Salavantis, a 29-year old Republican, defeated Democratic incumbent Jackie Musto Carroll to become one of the youngest District Attorneys in Pennsylvania history.
Salavantis’ victory comes just one year after fellow Young Republican, State Representative Tarah Toohil defeated then House Majority Leader Todd Eachus.
“The youth political movement is in full-swing and the Young Republicans are at the forefront of the movement in Luzerne County. These two young Republican women have started a trend in Luzerne County that will continue to gain momentum in 2012 and beyond, ” said LCYR President, Bob Zaruta.
